# Observatory scoring

## Overview

The Observatory scoring system is designed to promote blockchain high performance, engaged governance and decentralization across several metrics.

A second key property is the interconnectedness of the blockchain score with the validator scores on each blockchain. The scoring system is actionable, which means it's possible to identify validators that lead or lag the blockchain score. It is also possible to determine how to modify a lagging validator to increase the score of the overall blockchain.
